Great Southern Illinois Camping!
Southern Illinois is beautiful and home to some of the nicest camping you’ll find
In southern Illinois, we’re blessed with a large number of state and national parks all around our region. Most of these parks are well maintained with designated areas for fishing, camping, hiking, picnicking and more. Just south of our headquarters in Harrisburg, IL you can visit a dozen or more campgrounds & RV parks in the historic Shawnee National Forest. Another must see area of the Shawnee National Forest is Garden of the Gods, home to breathtaking rock formations and amazing views!
To our west, near Marion, IL you can visit Lake of Egypt and Crab Orchard (Crab Orchard National Wildlife Refuge & Campground). South of Marion you’ll find great camping and hiking options at Ferne Clyffe State Park. Between Marion and Carbondale, south of Crab Orchard we have Devils Kitchen Lake and Little Grassy Lake, both with great fishing and camping. Near the small town of Alto Pass, south of Murphysboro, we’ve got the beautiful Cedar Lake, recently voted the best lake in Illinois by cheapism.com! Of course, just a little ways north of Marion on Interstate 57 you’ll find Illinois’ second largest lake: Rend Lake. Rend Lake has long been a popular spot for camping, boating, fishing, skiing and more and draws thousands of visitors to the region every year!
Furthermore, we can’t leave out Giant City State Park, a popular destination for picnics, rock climbing, formal events, camping and more. Plus there’s the quirky fun community of Makanda nearby, home of the world famous smiley face water tower and lots and great shops. Be sure to check out our Camp Sites & Delivery Fees page for info on several campgrounds where we can deliver our campers for a small fee (note: if you don’t find your site, contact us for a custom quote).
Why use rental campers?
The camper rental industry is honestly fairly new and honestly a lot of people don’t even know that such opportunities exist! Renting a camper is a great way to upgrade your camping experience without committing to a long term contract or taking on debt. Our camper rentals are clean, modern and well equipped and great for a cozy getaway vacation. Our campers sleep five with a full size memory foam bed, two bunks and a couch that converts to a sleeping space. Also included are air conditioning & heat, refrigerator with freezer, microwave, two burner stove, hot water heater, shower & tub, TV/DVD player, stereo (with aux hookup!), fire extinguisher, smoke and LP/CO detectors for safety, an outdoor awning and lots of indoor and outdoor storage.
Each camper comes equipped with a variety of cooking paper supplies to get you started. You just need to bring your bed linens and pillows, bath towels and wash cloths, and of course your food and drinks! We can also rent out coolers, a charcoal or gas grill, canopy tents, and a 3000 watt generator if needed. Keep in mind, though, different camp sites might have rules regulating some of these additional items, so be sure you check with your destination!
